Potluck Supper

  • Bolingbroke Academy Wakehurst Rd London, SW11 6BF United Kingdom (map)

Celebrate Bolingbroke’s diversity through a sharing supper… it’s potluck what you’ll end up eating!

Check out the photos from last year’s Potluck Supper

Bring a dish to share and feast on whatever you fancy that others have brought. We’re hoping that families will bring and share food that reflects the awesome international diversity of our school.

The exciting part is that you won’t know what is on offer until you get there!

Bolingbroke families are absolutely welcome to share the meal whether you are able to bring a dish or not.

There’s no charge for food and the PA will provide a range of soft drinks for all to enjoy, so it’s a completely free family night out!

It will help very much with the organisation if you can register for this event (but it’s not essential)

All you need to know about this lovely community event…

What is a Potluck Supper?

Quite simply it is a shared meal where all the food is brought and donated by those that are attending. There’s no planning, so it’s potluck what you will end up eating. You’ll be able to pick your supper from whatever is brought along on the night. Everyone is sharing, so there’s no charge.

What sort of food should I bring?

Any and all food is welcome. It’s the creativeness and generosity of all who bring a dish to share that makes this event special. Does your dish have a special name or a story behind it? Maybe you could share that too!

Example dishes to donate

  • Dish that reflects your heritage and culture

  • Your family favourite

  • Your special cheffy signature dish

  • Something as simple as a plate of sandwiches, a bowl of salad or a side dish of rice, potatoes or vegetables

  • A casserole or stew - one pot dishes are great for sharing

  • Cakes, desserts, sweets

  • Snacks and nibbles

How should I serve my dish?

  • The dishes will be laid out buffet-style, so please bring your dish fully prepared, ready to eat and presented in an appropriate serving dish

  • Please bring serving utensils appropriate to your dish

  • You might want to add a sign to say what your dish is or what it contains

  • If your food is allergen-free or caters to a particular dietary need (e.g. vegan, Halal, Kosher), it would be helpful to label it as such

How many should I cater for?

We recommend 6-8 small portions. We expect people will want to try a little bit of several dishes. We don’t want to have wasted food, so we suggest you bring a box to take away any leftovers you fancy at the end of the evening

Will I be able to heat my dish on the premises?

Unfortunately we will not be able to heat food, although we will have hot plates to keep things warm. It’s an informal supper so it won’t matter if it is not at the perfect temperature

What else should I bring as well as my dish?

  • Please label your dishes and utensils so you can easily identify them at the end of the evening.

  • In case of leftovers you might also want to pack a container to take some home!

How will you manage allergies and special dietary requirements?

Due to the nature of the event, we will regrettably not be able to guarantee the food on offer is free of allergens or suitable for those with special dietary needs. Anyone with severe allergies is advised to bring and eat their own food. Food on offer will have been prepared in normal domestic settings and cross-contamination may be a risk even if no allergens are used in the dish itself.
